MILAN – As planned by the organisers, Expo Milano 2015 will be a key opportunity to encounter the history of Man and food production, with the dual aim of highlighting cultural traditions and researching new applications for technology. The means chosen for doing this is a cultural trail of growth and change, highlighting the interaction between people in relation to the Planet.
The message of Expo Milano 2015
The event Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life is focused on the individual, who contributes to the transformation of the surrounding natural environment, through his or her life and work. Expo Milano 2015 represents the vital energy which food, a symbol of hospitality and community and a celebration of life, brings with it. Over time, this story has awarded an increasingly central and leading role to the individual, resulting in the presentation of a Universal Exhibition completely conceived within the human form: the goal is to render visitors active, transforming their experience into interest, depth, knowledge and awareness.
The story of the Universal Exhibition
From its first presentation in London in 1851, this account of mankind’s history has manifested in historical, political and economic events, reflected in the staging of the Universal Exhibitions: the rise of industry, the birth of new economic powers and the twists and turns of diplomatic history, such as the World Wars, have marked and affected all the Expos. Milan is the culmination of a process of transformation in the exhibition, where the seeds of change are inherent in the relationship which every nation has with its own land, with its produce and therefore, with its cuisine and food.
The participation of Sanpellegrino
The mission of the Sanpellegrino Group is to guarantee a future of quality for water and this fits in perfectly with the mission of the Expo, which aims to provide a sustainable future for food resources. The company is the only one in the agri-food sector – through the brands San Pellegrino and Acqua Panna – to have formed a dual partnership with Expo Milano 2015 and Padiglione Italia. Amongst the activities planned, these two brands of mineral water, found on the best tables of the world, shall be the vehicle for an innovative concept entitled Identità Expo S.Pellegrino – bringing together quality restaurant cuisine with the warm welcome typical of Italy – and will celebrate Young Chef of The Year, following a competition which has drawn participants from across continents.
